Resilience can only be forged in the flames of turmoil.

I didn’t know when I would start a blog, or what I would write about for my first post, and from all of the reading I’ve done lately in self-development books and knowledge gained in business workshops, the thing I learned is that there often isn’t a right or wrong way to go about doing something; sometimes you just need to do it!

I haven’t decided on a specific type of content for this blog. It might just end up being a collection of my thoughts on a variety of topics, and a quasi-journal to track where I started on my journey for a better self. I say I read a good bit of self-development books lately, but what I mean is that I listened to them via Audible; my attention span for reading a paper copy is limited. So I like to keep notes of things that stand out while listening, or when I am interacting with friends and family online, sometimes I will have an insight that I feel other people can relate to and I will write those down too.

The most recent insight, that to some may seem like common sense, was this: Resilience can only be forged in the flames of turmoil.

I tend to wear my emotions on my sleeve and I am not afraid to share how I am feeling or when something really moves me, for better or worse. I think it is better to over share than to try and keep things inside. They say once something is said it can’t be taken back, but why should we feel any sort of shame or guilt over things said when we can always work with any pain point that arises from it to reach a new level of understanding or connection with someone as a result.

If we don’t feel at least a little bit of uneasiness in life, then we can never grow to appreciate the serene moments; all aspects of life have something that will provide contrast. Sharing how you feel about an event will open the door to resolution and healing, or triumph and revelry, depending on the context.

Those unfortunate times that we must suffer set backs are the moments in life that we can learn the most, when we temper our will and learn to overcome whatever challenges are set before us. Let the trial by fire forge you into an instrument for good, sharing your success with others, and helping those that struggle with similar circumstances to see that they too can persevere through adversity.

Life is meant to be shared with others. I hope that you can find strength from the experiences you once thought impossible to achieve. As a parting thought, can you recall a time in your life when you were inspired by the success of another to keep pushing forward despite everything in your head telling you otherwise?
