Karma; you always get what you deserve.

What you get from life is a direct reflection of what you put into the world. That is the basic principle of karma, although a simpler way of saying it that you may be more familiar with is what goes around comes around.

As I examine my own life and my good and bad days, I wonder what I have done on the bad days to deserve such thoughts and feelings, but when I am happy and content, I do not concern myself with what I did to deserve such things. The important thing to draw from that is that it is easy to focus on the negative when things aren’t going well.

This is why it is important to celebrate the good days and the victories no matter how small. When we rejoice in the good fortunes of ourselves and others, we are putting more positivity into the world, and that is returned back to us. The people that have the most in life, metaphorically, are the ones that give the most, of themselves and their gifts to others.

As we make conscious actions to do good, the cosmic substance of the universe reflects those actions back upon us, creating more opportunities and moments to double down on the good we put out. The same is true when we are stuck in a negative mindset. It becomes easy to feel trapped, like there is just a constant cycle of negativity being put out and pulled right back in, until we recognize the consistent factor is the choices we make and what we are doing to deserve such a fate.

If you find yourself on the receiving end of karma’s justice, just remember that it is only temporary. You can and will recognize what lesson you need to learn, and only then can you break the cycle and create a new path to travel down. The easiest way to break the cycle is good deeds to others. It is okay to be a little selfish and treat yourself well too, especially since it is important that you be in the right mindset to provide assistance.

When you are helping others, you may find that you no longer are focused on the problems in your own life, freeing you from the negativity which does not necessarily have to be directed at another. You help ease someone else’s struggle, acting as karma’s instrument for good, and in turn you are spared from the sometimes brutal recompense of negative actions.

It is strange how karma acts not only upon us, but through us as well. Depending on where you are watching from, someone can be both the sword and shield of karma, chastising someone for their misdeeds, or providing relief to someone that has finally tipped the scales in the other direction.

Whether you wish to believe in it or not, karma does affect you, as the unspoken law of the land. It’s invisible hand will humble you should your pride grow too great, and it will pick you up when you are in times of despair to find peace of mind. Whatever you believe, be wary not to tempt fate as karma can strike within a moment’s notice like a force of nature, reducing even the mightiest of monuments to rubble. If there is anything to be gained from the awareness of karma in our lives it is that it costs nothing to be kind, and you never know when your kindness may be repaid to you in a time of need.
