“Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.” – Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci was on to something when he made this quote. I’m not much of a painter, or rather I should say I have never given it much effort, but I do enjoy writing poetry from time to time. There isn’t a right or wrong time to try your hand at it, and sometimes you just need to wait for the right inspiration to strike.

Today’s post will include a poem I wrote recently, succinctly titled “Inspiration”, and while I consider it still to be somewhat of a work in progress, I’m happy in it’s current iteration, and any more work on it will be if something happens to come to mind that sounds better to me. (I already did one small change from the original that I posted on Facebook)

Here is it’s current form:

The spark of imagination flickers bright,
As ideas flow effortlessly into the night,
Who knows what could cause such a sight,
Like the reprieve at the end of a tunnel; light!

Doing what felt impossible or so it seems,
The things of thought pulled from stuff of dreams,

To make the world a better place,
Is the look that fell upon their face,
Each day filled with tears of joy,
Like a child enamored with a new toy,

What must be done is clear to see,
No more resistance for the path is free,
Step by step and day by day,
The price of progress we gladly pay,

Sometimes the mind settles in the muck,
Of distractions and feeling stuck,
Freed by a stroke of luck,
Inspiration has finally struck!
